Aside from an occasional upgrade offered by an "accommodating desk clerk" and a restaurant set on a "romantic" lake, this "older" chain link has many wayfarers wrankled by "outdated rooms" ("on par with a Motel 6") sporting "thin walls" and "noisy pipes"; views are split on the staff as well, with some finding them "courteous" and others "neither friendly nor helpful."

Friendly staff, room repair made quickly and courteous.
Toilet seat needed repair and the
room needed some modernizing.

This is my favorite hotel in the Arden area. Staff is always very friendly and helpful and rooms are comfortable although many could be modernized. Although I did not have breakfast this morning, they have the best breakfast in the area and offer excellent value. Wait staff is always very efficient and friendly. ...read more

It was not crowded.
Poorly situated and average rooms.

The place is old and showing its age. The night we were there they had a rotary dinner and that kind of sums up the kind of place it is. It is an OK place to stay but should not be a 3 star. The beds are situated at an angle and seem kind of awkward and I am not a big fan of the sleep number beds. The room was clean. With all the doors on the outside it is more of a motel than hotel. Due to low occupancy we were upgraded and not forced to stay in the bungalow rooms on the north 40. The bar actually had a $10 cover charge. I was thinking they should have paid me $10 to come in and pay for a drink. I have had mostly good experiences with Priceline. This was not one of the best. ...read more

Beds were nice, every thing else worn and very used.
Kind
of run down in a bad part of town not what I expected.

Not real bad hard to find and not very comfortable location. It is really past its prime and trying hard to hold on to what it used to have, old and pretty worn.

It was filthy, the front desk was arrogant.

This was the second worse hotel I've ever stayed.

The first night we were trapped in by overflowing parking.

The hotel was okay. Nothing spectacular, by any means. The rooms were very motel like, really. The sleep number beds are very uncomfortable. The biggest problem I had was the first night we were there a jazz concert was being held on the hotel grounds. The issue I have is the parking fiasco that came with the concert. We were in town for a vending gig at Cal Expo and had to set up the night we came in, Friday night. We got our room keys and proceeded to go drop some stuff off in our room before we went to the festival grounds. Okay, there is no parking. After driving around for about 10 minutes we found a space on the complete opposite end of the hotel complex as our room. So about 45 minutes later we finally are ready to take off to set up our booth and we are functionally blocked in. We are stuck in the parking. ...read more

The beds were comfortable.
Run down, pool was over-chlorinated, vending and ice machines didn't work.

First impressions of the hotel were definitely deceiving. Our room appeared to be nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. I didn't feel overly secure, however, since the room was on ground level and the door was hidden behind landscape vegetation. The room's light switch didn't appear to control any of the room's lights and the bedside lights had switches that were hidden. When we did figure them out and turned them on, some of the fluorescent bulbs were burned out. One of the room's benefits was supposed to be its free internet connection, however we couldn't find any information either in the room or the hotel directory. I discovered the internet cable but plugging it in to my computer yielded no internet connection. A phone call to the front desk and a visit from the grumpy on duty repairman discovered that the in-room modem was unplugged. This was due, in part, because the extension cords that were incorporated into the carpeting the two cords were daisy chained together and buried under the carpeting - this I am sure would be a code violation in a personal residence let alone a hotel and didn't work, explaining why the television was unplugged from these cords and plugged into the socket where the modem was supposed to have been occupying. Then, as if the fiasco encountered so far wasn't enough, while trying to procure some ice and soft drinks from the nearest vending machines which either didn't work or wouldn't accept change, my son and I were walking to the next closest machines. The hotel's irrigation system had been watering the lawns and had over sprayed on the sidewalks. The security lighting was either absent or not working - the root cause I never really determined. Due to this lack of sufficient lighting, my son slipped on the wet tile and cut his toe he was wearing sandals. The resulting cut began to bleed quite a bit. I instructed my son to call the front desk, inform them he had cut his toe and request some band aids. ...read more
